Welcome to my Blog
I love what I do
I have been active in the teaching industry for over 18 years and find it extremely rewarding. Every time I offer a new learning experience and see how much children enjoy it, I thrive.
More importantly, when I witness how children and parents gain new knowledge and grow in confidence and self-esteem, I know that I am living my purpose. What an honour and unique gift that is.
My teaching journey
My journey as an Early Childhood Teacher / Parent Coach began back in 1996 out of a sincere desire to support my son Kyle. He was 4-years old at the time.
Kyle was having a tough time at preschool, and it felt as though I had failed him as a parent. I truly wanted to be the best mommy for Kyle. However, the road ahead seemed so challenging!
With the support of Kyle’s teacher, I booked a visit with the child psychologist. She was terrific and suggested useful strategies my family and I could use to assist Kyle.
And that was it; I was hooked!
I had a strong desire to learn all I could about the intricacies of child development. Before I knew it, I was enrolled at university to study a Bachelor of Early Childhood Teaching.
After many fulfilling years teaching children, my interest in psychology and teaching broadened to working with adults. During this time, I had numerous roles:
- Firstly I supported frustrated parents in understanding their child’s behaviour better.
- Then I mentored educators who looked after children in their Family Day Care businesses.
- After that, I became a lecturer; training adults who had enrolled in nationally recognised early childhood qualifications.
I further developed my mentoring and coaching skills when I obtained qualifications as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, Counsellor, and Meditation Teacher.
But in 2018, I longed to work with children again.
I missed their natural curiosity; their joy in discovering the many gifts our world has to offer and their passion for creative expression.
It was time for me to go back to teaching pre-schoolers again.
And here we are today
Today I am a kindergarten teacher with a mission to inspire children’s love for learning. Much the same way in which I inspired my son Kyle. And just in case you are wondering, Kyle is doing great today! He is all grown up and very happy in his chosen career as a chemical engineer.
Other than teaching children, I am also passionate about sharing creative ideas with parents, carers and fellow teachers. Which brings me back to you:
